IEEE/IFR 2007 Joint Industry Forum on Invention and Entrepreneurship in Robotics and Automation

Tuesday, April 10, 2007, Rome, Italy (in conjunction with the 2007 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation)

Current status

For the 2007 award, there were 22 impressive applications submitted! It will be very difficult to decide. The evaluation process was very demanding due to the fact that most of the applications were of really high quality, and an extra evaluation of close-to-final applications was carried out. Hence, the notification of finalists was delayed until the 20:th of February. Six finalists were selected, and they will present their innovations at the IERA07 forum/workshop.

Mission

This Joint Forum will highlight and honor the achievements of these people with the clear objective of promoting innovation andentrepreneurship in our society. Innovators who explore original, value-creating ideas and entrepreneurs who propel those ideas into world-class products and services are key to the continuing success of robotics and automation today.

The forum is conducted jointly with IFR and includes two main parts:

  • IEEE/IFR Invention and Entrepreneurship Award with Plenary Lectures

Lectures will cover the details of the Motivation behind the said Innovation, the way the Original Idea is formulated, the Approach and Process taken in order to move an initial idea to Commercial Products or to Business Opportunities, as well as Lessons learned from the experience
