Awards

RAS awards are under the auspices of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Awards Committee. The Committee has several areas of responsibility:

  • The administration of the process related to the nomination of candidates for awards and the selection of winners
  • The review of new award proposals
  • The review of existing awards
  • The recommendation of persons to serve on the IEEE Robotics and Automation Technical Field Award Committee (The Technical Field award is an IEEE award and is handled by an IEEE level committee.)
  • Ensuring that the Society evaluation of Fellow candidates is provided to the IEEE Fellow Committee

The Awards Committee, itself, handles the review of award proposals and existing awards. It uses various committees and panels to solicit award nominations and provide evaluations of the nominees. A strict separation between the nomination and evaluation activities is maintained, and there is a Conflict of Interest Policy to which all those participating in nominations or evaluations must commit.
