Special issue on Perception and Navigation for Autonomous Vehicles
A special issue of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Magazine
Introduction
Autonomous driving and navigation is a major research issue which will affect our lives in the near future. Among the many application areas that robotics is addressing, transportation of people and goods seems to be a domain that will dramatically benefit from advances in robotics and automation. The purpose of this special issue is to address topics related to the challenging problems of autonomous and cooperative driving for road and urban vehicles. Important issues include robust perception, control, complex and dynamic environment, system integration and safety.
Scope, description and more information
The scope of this special issue encompasses articles that address one or more of the aforementioned challenges of Perception and Navigation for Autonomous Vehicles. Particular topics of interest include:
- Perception and situation awareness (Road scene understanding, Pedestrian and vehicle detection, Localization, detection and tracking, Collision prediction and avoidance, Situation awareness, Integrity and safety, Semantic mapping)
- Dynamic environment (SLAM in dynamic environments, Real-time motion planning in dynamic environments)
- Autonomous systems (Control of autonomous vehicles, Cooperative vehicles, Mobility systems of intelligent vehicles, Autonomous navigation)
The IEEE Robotics and Automation Magazine is a unique technology publication which is peer-reviewed, readable and substantive and seeks to present new scientific results to the practicing engineer through a focus on working systems.
Authors are encouraged to write magazine-style articles (upto 6000 words) rather than theoretical transaction-style papers. See the “For authors” section for details.
