A special issue of the IEEE Transactions on Robotics
This issue has been published. You can download it from IEEE Xplore.
The main objective of Biorobotics is to investigate the working principles of biological systems from a biomechatronic viewpoint and to exploit this knowledge in order to develop methodologies and innovative technologies for the design and fabrication of bio-inspired machines and systems, characterized by different sizes (from macro to micro and nano) and with advanced performance (e.g., humanoids and animaloids).
The IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON ROBOTICS invites you to submit papers in this field, in response to a call for a Special Issue devoted to Biorobotics. We would like to present the main achievements on different technical topics relevant to the development of bio-inspired mechatronic devices and robotic systems, including the engineering aspects of the development of bio-mimetic and bio-inspired machines.
Regular and short papers for this Special Issue should be submitted in the usual way to T-RO (see details on www.ieee-ras.org/tro/for_authors). Essentially, papers (in PDF) should be submitted by FTP to the site address ftp://ftp.dis.uniroma1.it/pub/ieeetro/incoming. The cover page of the paper should contain the paper title, authors’ names and full addresses, abstract, keywords (index terms), and paper type (Regular Paper, Short Paper). The corresponding author should be clearly indicated. A submission letter has to be sent by email to ieeetro@dis.uniroma1.it including (as plain text in the message) all information contained in the cover page of the paper and the name of the uploaded file(s). In the submission email, please specify that the paper is intended for the Special Issue on Bio-Robotics.
T-RO considers also multimedia material (typically, videos) accompanying the submission of a paper. Instructions on the preparation of this material can be found on www.ieee-ras.org/tro/for_authors. Multimedia will appear side-by-side to the accepted paper in the electronic version of the Special Issue within IEEE Xplore.
The Call for Papers is going to be published also in the October 2006 issue of T-RO and of the IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering (T-ASE), as well as in the December 2006 issue of the IEEE Robotics & Automation Magazine (RAM).
