5th IEEE-IFR Invention & Entrepreneurship Award in Robotics & Automation presented in Kobe Kobe, May 2009 – As in previous years the judging panel had a difficult choice to make. ICRA 2009 Best Paper Awards

Five of the 696 papers which were accepted for the 2009 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (out of 1629 submissions) received the award for Best Paper in six different categories,  One paper received two different awards, Best Automation Paper and Best Student Paper. NEW RAS TC: Performance Evaluation and Benchmarking for Robotic and Automation Systems

A new RAS Technical Committee,   Performance Evaluation and Benchmarking for Robotic and Automation Systems, will emphasize the need and solutions for developingstandardized methods for quantitatively evaluating and benchmarking emerging robotic systems technologies. The new TC was approved by the RAS AdCom in May 2009.
