Aude Billard will serve as RAS President Elect in 2022-2023. The RAS Administrative Committee elected Billard to serve as President Elect under President, Frank Park and to assume the Society presidency in January 2023. Most recently, she has served RAS on the Administrative Committee, as Vice President of Publication Activities.
Aude Billard received the M.Sc. degree in physics from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1995, and the M.Sc. degree in knowledge-based systems and the Ph.D. degree in artificial intelligence from University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, U.K., in 1996 and 1998, respectively.,She is a Professor of Micro and Mechanical Engineering and the Head of the Learning Algorithms and Systems Laboratory with the School of Engineering, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne. Her research interest includes machine learning tools to support robot learning through human guidance. This extends also to research on complementary topics, including machine vision and its use in human–robot interaction and computational neuroscience to develop models of motor learning in humans.,Dr. Billard served as an Elected Member of the Administrative Committee of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) for multiple terms and was the Chair of the IEEE RAS Technical Committee on Humanoid Robotics. Most recently, she has served RAS on the Administrative Committee, as Vice President of Publication Activities. She received the Intel Corporation Teaching Award, the Swiss National Science Foundation Career Award in 2002, the Outstanding Young Person in Science and Innovation from the Swiss Chamber of Commerce, the IEEE-RAS Best Reviewer Award in 2012, and the IEEE Transactions on Robotics King-Sun Fu Memorial Best Paper Award in 2015.
