1. Call for Nominations for RAM Associate Editors due October 1

RAM is seeking ACTIVE, ENTHUSIASTIC AND qualified individuals to serve on the Magazine Editorial Board for the term beginning January 1 2010. Please send nominations, including self nominations, to the RAS Administrator at r.g.snyder@ieee.org. Nominations must include a CV, a description of previous experience as a reviewer for publications and/or conferences, including the names of the pubs/ conferences and the editor or program chair, and one reference. Candidates who are attending IROS 2009 are encouraged to meet with EiC-Elect Peter Corke to discuss the responsibilities of Associate Editors.

2. IROS GOLD Lunch (AKA "Young Professionals)

All IROS attendees who received their last university degree in the 21st century (or are still working on it) are invited to network with other GOLDs and learn how RAS Technical Committees and other activities can add to your professional development and satisfaction. 3. Applications for RAS Local Chapter Grants due Oct 5

The Society supports activities of Local Chapters through Local Chapter support grants. To apply, complete the Chapter Support Request Form found on the RAS webpage at http://www.ieee-ras.org/member/chapters and send it to the Society Administrator. Applications are considered twice a year by the Member Activities Board. A maximum of $2000 will be awarded to a single chapter.

4. Requests for Visits by RAS Distinguished Lecturers

The RAS provides provides support for RAS Distinguished Lecturers to visit local chapters. The Society pays plane/intercity train fare up to $1500 and the Local Chapter covers expenses for lodging, food, and local transportation. Look for your RAS Election Notice coming soon! You may either vote on the web via an e-Ballot or request a paper ballot. 6. IEEE-Wiley Press Discount Offer to IEEE Members

IEEE-Wiley Press is offering a 20% discount on publications to IEEE members through the end of October

7. $5,000 in Scholarships Available in IEEE-USA Online Student Engineering Video Competition

IEEE-USA is launching the organization's third online engineering video competition for undergraduate students on "How Engineers Make a World of Difference." IEEE-USA will present four scholarship awards totaling $5,000 to undergraduates who create the most effective 90- second video clips reinforcing for an 11-to-13-year-old audience how engineers improve the world. Entries must be submitted through YouTube by midnight Eastern Time on Friday, 15 January 2010. Winning entries will be announced and shown during Engineers Week, 14-20 February 2010. (OPEN ONLY TO USA UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS)
