Robosoft 2022- Call for Papers Deadline

On 1 Nov, 2021

The First IEEE International Conference on Soft Robotics (RoboSoft) was held Livorno, Italy in 2018; the Second RoboSoft Conference was held in Seoul, Korea in 2019; and the Third and Fourth RoboSoft Meetings were both held in New Haven, USA in 2020 and 2021 respectively. This fifth edition of RoboSoft will take place in Edinburgh, Scotland, and will act as a forum to showcase and discuss the design, development, and application of “green” soft robotic systems which will safeguard the earth, improve healthcare, and increase quality of life

SOFT ROBOTS FOR THE PLANET

Soft Robotics is a rapidly maturing field that aims to create systems which have the potential to deliver huge impact in science, and for applications in unknown and challenging environments. From exploration of the natural environment to inspection of human-made infrastructure, from medicine to space, Soft Robots are becoming of major interest due to their ability to adapt, both morphologically and behaviourally, to unstructured environments. The recent global environmental and medical emergencies have further highlighted the key role of science and technology in helping humanity and the planet. Soft Robotics has the characteristic of being highly multi-disciplinary both scientifically and technologically, and it has the potential to be a game-changer in our response to current and future global challenges.

In view of these pressing current affairs, the 5th IEEE- RAS International Conference on Soft Robotics (RoboSoft) will centre on the theme of “Soft Robots for the Planet”. RoboSoft 2022 will present the most recent progress across the various fields of soft robotics, and will provide a hybrid online and in-person conference for the discussion of new science, new technologies and new opportunities.

CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS

Papers: We are calling for high-quality full 6-page papers with original results in all areas of soft robotics. There is an IEEE RA-L option available as well as the standard conference paper.

Workshops and Tutorials: We are calling for proposals for half-day and full-day Tutorials and Workshops to be held online and in-person on the day preceding the main conference.

Competitions: We are calling for proposals for teams to push the boundaries of embodied soft robotics and to challenge one another live online on the last day of RoboSoft 2022.

Exhibitions: RoboSoft 2022 presents an excellent opportunity for companies to showcase their products and services, and for networking with young and experienced scientists and engineers.

Detailed instructions for submission of papers and proposals can be found at softroboticsconference.org

ABOUT THE VENUE

The conference will run as a single-track event in a hybrid online/in-person format. We hope to accommodate as many people in person as local social distancing guidelines permit, but also – in keeping with the “green” theme of the conference, and in recognition of global events – we aim to offer a high-quality online experience and run the conference as a true hybrid event.

The in-person venue will be the historic McEwen Hall in the heart of The University of Edinburgh’s central campus. All details about the event will be posted at the conference website softroboticsconference.org.

We would appreciate it if you could forward this message to any other interested groups or people.

We are looking forward to receiving your contributions and to welcoming you online or in-person to RoboSoft 2022!
