The IEEE RAS Technical Activities Board (TAB) invites nominations for new Co-Chairs of RAS Technical Committees (TCs), with terms beginning January 1, 2027. This call is for TC leadership positions, rather than student representative positions.
The nomination and selection process introduced last year has helped increase TC activity and strengthen governance. Building on this progress, we welcome candidates from across regions and sectors, including industry, who can bring diverse perspectives to TC leadership and help sustain active, inclusive technical communities.
To nominate yourself or someone else, please complete the nomination form and include a Statement of Purpose. You may nominate a candidate for more than one TC, but please submit a separate form for each TC.

Role of a TC Co-Chair
TC Co-Chairs fulfill these responsibilities collectively as a team:
Selection Criteria
Candidates are not expected to meet every criterion. The selection committee will consider their alignment with the TC’s mission, leadership potential, and contributions through regular TC activities; workshops, conferences, or special issues; editorial and RAS service; industry engagement; mentoring; outreach; standards work; and education. We also encourage nominations that broaden regional representation and strengthen connections between academia and industry.
Candidates for TCs with links to fully sponsored or financially co-sponsored conferences should demonstrate a record of participation in those conferences as attendees or as part of organizing committees. For example, a candidate for the TC on Soft Robotics should ideally be someone active in IEEE RoboSoft and a candidate for the TC on RoboCup should be active in RoboCup.
Nominations may be submitted by TC members, current or former Co-Chairs, Cluster Chairs, RAS leadership, or the candidates themselves. Cluster Chairs may also propose candidates to support the selection process.
Applicants who currently serve as a TC Co-Chair should note that, if selected for a different TC, they will need to step down from their current TC Co-Chair position to take up the new appointment.
Under the RAS Bylaws effective August 2022, TC Co-Chairs serve three-year terms and may be reappointed for one additional term, for a maximum of six years. TC Co-Chairs seeking reappointment after their first term must submit a self-report through the Midterm Co-Chair Review Process.
We encourage qualified members to help shape the future of robotics and automation through TC leadership. Those interested in serving as an Associate Co-Chair may contact the relevant TC’s Corresponding Co-Chair directly for details.

Thank you for your continued support of the RAS technical community.
