Title: The Hoeing Robot “Oz"

Speaker: Gaëtan Séverac, Naïo Technologies

Abstract: Dedicated to small cultures (vegetables, trees nurseries, etc.) the hoeing robot Oz has been on the market for two years and has been successfully used by more than 20 growers. In this talk, Dr. Séverac will present the robot’s laser- and vision-based guidance system and the perspective and future projects of his company.

Bio: Gaëtan Séverac is the co-founder of Naïo Technologies, a French start-up specialized in robotics for agriculture. Naïo builds robots that perform mechanical weed control, saving farmers time and money, improving their work conditions, and reducing their environmental footprint. Dr. Séverac received his university diploma from Université Paul Sabatier (Toulouse III) in 2006, an engineering diploma (with specialization in software and robotics) from LAAS-CNRS in 2010, and a Ph.D. in collaborative robotics from ONERA, the French aerospace lab. His Ph.D. work focused on the modelling and exchange of knowledge.
