About the Award

Description: The purpose of the IEEE RAS Student Leadership Award is to annually honor an IEEE RAS member who has made an exceptional contribution to the Society while they were an IEEE Graduate Student Member or an IEEE Student Member.
Established: 2024
Prize: A prize of $1,000 and a commemorative plaque are given to each winner along with a complimentary conference registration and up to $2,500 in travel reimbursement (subject to IEEE Policies and Procedures) to attend the conference at which the award is to be presented. This award is typically awarded to 1-2 people annually, but in exceptional circumstances, up to 5 may be awarded. All recipients receive the full prize amount, regardless of the number of awards given.
Funding: The award is to be funded by the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society.
Eligibility: An individual nominated for this award must be, or must have been, an IEEE RAS Graduate Student Member or an IEEE RAS Student Member at the time he/she was involved in the activity cited in the nomination. The award is based upon evidence of an exceptional contribution to the Robotics & Automation Society. Previous award winners are not eligible for substantially the same achievements (per IEEE Policies 4.4: An individual shall receive only one award for a given achievement, unless the significance merits a higher award, which may be given in the following year or thereafter.)
Basis for Judging: The award is based upon evidence of an exceptional contribution to the Robotics and Automation Society. Selection criteria include leadership roles and leadership quality, innovative and important services/contributions to the Robotics and Automation Society.
Presentation: The award will be presented by the IEEE-RAS President or their designee at an IEEE-RAS sponsored conference chosen by the recipient(s).
