Welcome to the IEEE Robotics and Automation University (RAS-U)
The RAS-U provides a structured and comprehensive course on robotics for self-learners. The course covers fundamental and advanced topics and applications in robotics.
RAS-U is funded by the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society. It was initiated in 2025 at the EPFL LASA Laboratory under Aude Billard IEEE RAS Presidency, and benefits from contributions from scholars throughout the world.

RAS-U is composed of a long series of lessons, each of which dedicated to one robotics topic.
Each lesson provides:
- Theoretical explanations delivered through short-videos and text
- Conceptual, mathematical and programming exercises
- Examples of real-world applications
- Link to additional resources

Follow these simple steps to begin your robotics journey:
- Select a Topic from the list of courses.
- Follow the Lesson, by scrolling down the course’s webpage
- Test your understanding, by responding to the conceptual exercises distrubed throughout the lesson
- Learn by doing by solving the mathematical exercises
- Put knowledge in practice wby implementing the knowledge you gained in the proposed programming exercises or through other hands-on suggestions you will find at the end of the lesson
- Expand your knowledge by reading more following the links provided under additional resources.
