New Journal Launch: IEEE Transactions on Robot Learning (T-RL)

Mark your calendars for March 30, when we officially launch our newest journal, the IEEE Transactions on Robot Learning. T-RL publishes fundamental advances in the development and use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning methods that address challenges specific to robotic and automation systems, incorporating the constraints and opportunities present in physical systems, and tackling key barriers to the full deployment of AI in physical forms from perception to control.

Todd Murphey (Northwestern University) and Vincent Vanhoucke (Waymo), the founding co-Editors-in-Chief of T-RL, will work closely with an Editorial Board and the T-RL Advisory Board including Aude Billard (EPFL), Ken Goldberg (UC Berkeley), and Frank Park (Seoul National University).

Examples of topics within the scope of T-RL include, but are not limited to:

  • Methods tailored to challenges such as robustness and generalizability.
  • Methods for data collection and policy training.  ,
  • Transfer learning across robotic platforms, tasks, and environments.
  • Algorithmic advances in AI-based control of robots and automation systems that offer safety and reliability guarantees
  • Robot learning algorithms for human-robot collaboration, such as methods for prediction of human behavior
  • Explainable and transparent AI-driven control of robots and automation systems
  • Building trust
  • Attributing responsibility.

We invite you to follow along for our first call for papers and the inaugural issue.
