Introduction

The eighth annual IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering (CASE 2012) was held on August 20-24, 2012, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Seoul, Korea. IEEE CASE represents the flagship automation conference of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society. The conference aims to bring together researchers in automation from both industry and academia, together with industrial practitioners, to present and discuss the latest advances and developments in automation science and engineering.

This special issue is by invitation only. It will contain fuller treatments of some of the outstanding papers presented at CASE 2012.

Scope, Description, and More Information

The 2012 Edition of IEEE CASE placed special emphasis on the themes of Automation in Semiconductor/Display Manufacturing, Low Carbon Green Technology and Automation, Automotive Manufacturing, and Automation in Heavy Industries, in addition to the traditional coverage of the latest advances in the Foundations of Automation, Automation at the Meso-, Micro-, and Nano-Scales, Information Automation, Automation in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Life Sciences and Health Care, and Networked and Control Systems.
