Purpose: To coordinate the analysis of RAS activities and events with respect to sustainability, and to formulate implementation plans for improving sustainability throughout RAS.
The Committee supports initiatives that promote sustainability in robotics and automation through:
With conference attendance up nearly 300% and over 70 global events, IEEE RAS is cutting event waste, mandating hybrid options for major conferences like ICRA and IROS, and promoting local satellite events to reduce its CO₂ footprint. But sustainability in robotics and automation begins with design choices. RAS Sustainability Grants support sustainable design practices and encourage the adoption of technology in robotics and automation.
