Technical Committees

Technical Committees (TC) focus on the research content of the IEEE Robotics & Automation Society by tracking technical developments and encouraging innovation in: applications, theory, models, metrics, experiments, architectures, products, initiatives, and other technical areas.

With 47 Technical Committees, research in specific areas is encouraged. New Technical Committees are added as a topic area is grows, becomes increasingly relevant, sufficiently outside the scope of existing TCs.

Technical Committees are an important benefit of membership, allowing for further collaboration and communication within subsets of the field.

The Human-Centered Robotics cluster focuses on developing physically interactive robots and integrating human-robot cognitive capabilities. By uniting multiple IEEE RAS technical committees, it fosters interdisciplinary collaborations to advance human-centered robotics for an intelligent and connected society. Key themes include integrating human intelligence and robotic cognition through AI, machine learning, control, and cognitive sciences. The cluster emphasizes safe physical interactions with advancements in control, perception, and manipulation. Collaboration between experts from various robotics sub-societies, including haptics, telerobotics, medical robotics, wearable robotics, and biorobotics, is encouraged. Highlighting applications in healthcare, industry, manufacturing, and construction, the cluster showcases how robots enhance productivity, safety, and quality of life for a positive impact in our connected world. Join the cluster and learn how robots can learn from humans and how humans can adapt to robots, a closed-loop mutual interaction.
