New PhD Student Position in Haptics & Augmented Reality

The Interactive Graphics and Simulation (IGS) Group at the University of Innsbruck, Austria invites applications for the position of a PhD student in computer haptics and augmented reality, with application in surgical simulation.

We are seeking a motivated and talented PhD student with interest and skill in computer haptics and/or augmented reality. The focus will be on using this technology in medical training systems. The work consists of both hard- and software development. The search is open immediately (application deadline June 28th); with intended starting date September 15th, 2021. The position is offered on the level of a non-permanent university research student for four years.

Candidates should have earned a Master or Diploma degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Mathematics, or other related fields. Knowledge in haptics and/or augmented reality is expected. In addition, some experience with medical applications is of advantage. Further, basic knowledge of physically-based simulation could be a plus. Experience in C/C++ programming is expected, as well as an adequate level in English, both written and spoken.
