Study Group on Semantic Maps
This study group aims to develop a common understanding for the need for standard semantic maps for autonomous robots. The study group will initially identify the requirements and develop a roadmap for semantic maps towards standardization of data model and application framework by integrating existing map data representations from other SDOs. The targeted deliverables such as use cases, semantic map data structure and the associated data model, and the resultant semantic map framework should be general enough to encompass mobile, stationary robots, and possibly software robots in shared or distant workspaces. A final outcome of the study group will be a PAR for a future IEEE-supported standard related to SMART.
RAS is a volunteer driven society with over 13,000 members worldwide.
